Medical laboratory sciences

Honors-in-Major Program Requirements

Students are required to maintain an overall grade-point average of 3.20 and a 3.20 grade-point average in major coursework.

Students must successfully complete 12 credits of work drawn from the following courses: MLS 610H Laboratory Management (4 cr.); MLS 644/645 Hematology (6 cr.); MLS 656/657 Immunohematology (3 cr.); MLS 658/659 Medical Biochemistry (5 cr.); MLS 660/661 Body Fluids (3 cr.); MLS 720/721 Mycology-Parasitology-Virology (5 cr.). THese courses require additional work in the form of reading assignments, papers, or reserach projects. Particular assignments depend upon the nature of the course.

Students must also successfully complete MLS 799 Senior Honors Thesis (4 cr.). The project will be conducted under the guidance of a faculty adviser and include a literature review, proposal for research activity, data collection and analysis, and final paper.
